playfulness in practice

practitioner Programme

6 months | Live Online Learning + Practicum + Supervision | £2,100

Serious about performance?

Start with play.

Overview

This is not a programme about simply adding fun. Team building days do that – and they rarely work.

This programme is for leaders, founders, coaches, and who want to learn how to use playfulness to build high-performance teams that thrive in disruptive times.

What you'll learn

Over six months working with Chris Marshall, you’ll build not just the intellectual understanding of how playfulness transforms teams – but the practical tools to do it. By the end of this programme, you’ll be able to:

  • Cultivate playful teams that deliver high-performance results.

  • Use playfulness to reduce tension, unlock creativity, and shift stuck systems.

  • Build playfulness as a resiliency tool in disrupted, high-stakes environments.

Practitioner Programme

Modules

Three core modules + Practicum + Supervision.

Module 1: Understanding Playfulness (The Inner Game)

Learn to access playfulness in yourself – and what blocks it.

  • The science, psychology, and paradoxes of adult play

  • How safety, attachment, and adaptability shape your style

  • The OLIW model and Chris’s Three Pillars

  • Why playfulness disappears under pressure – and what that tells you

Why it matters:

You can’t lead others there if you can’t go there yourself. This is where you unlearn the over-seriousness that stifles creativity.

Module 2: The Playful Practitioner (The Relational Game)

Become someone who can hold the state for others — and invite them in.

  • How to use levity, curiosity, and play to build trust

  • Adapting to others’ play styles

  • The PPM Method: Pause → Play → Move

  • Playfulness as co-regulation, not performance

Why it matters:

Great leadership is state transmission. Your nervous system is your strategy.

Module 3: Playfulness Under Pressure (The Systems Game)

Lead playfully — even in serious, stressed, or burnt-out systems.

  • How to stay light in the face of fear or resistance

  • Tools for systems-level engagement and cultural change

  • Using small experiments to shift big dynamics

  • Making playfulness a strategy, not a perk

Why it matters:

Creativity in calm moments is easy. This is about staying playful when it’s hard.
